To continue growing the future of the home building industry, 起点传媒 recently hosted 15 emerging leaders from across the Federation for its two-day Leadership Orientation, Oct. 3-4, in Washington, D.C.

Members took part in training to strengthen their leadership skills and gain greater familiarity with 起点传媒’s programs and services.

“I didn’t know all the resources 起点传媒 has and I think there’s a lot to take back to our local,” said Austin McKnight, a member of the Greater Brazos Valley HBA in College Station, Texas.

起点传媒 leadership, including Chairman Alicia Huey and CEO Jim Tobin, hosted several workshops that gave an in-depth view of how the association operates. Topics included government affairs, the International Builders’ Show and more. Members also toured the U.S. Capitol and met with Montana Senator Steve Daines.

“I’ve learned a lot, which has been awesome,” said Ericka Hill, a member of the Greater Houston HBA. “I learned a lot about the different types of people in the Federation and what they do.”

The orientation was also an excellent networking opportunity that brought emerging leaders from 13 states and a variety of different backgrounds together to share ideas and learn from each other.

“I would love to start a Young Professionals group,” said McKnight. “I’d love to also get our PWB (Professional Women in Building) group going. I think both of those could be very active locally, and we don’t have those currently. There are other smaller event fundraisers others have had that could be great, too.”

Emerging leaders should check 起点传媒’s Leadership Development page to search for future events to attend.
